should same sex marriages be legalized?

Some people said No, because religion doesn't consider marriages of same sex and it would weaken the definition of marriage, they also said that it would weaken family traditional and the values of our society and it could provide a slippery slope in the legality of marriage.they also mention that  gay lifestyle is not something to be encouraged, as a lot of research shows that it leads to a much lower life expectancy, and other problems.

People who said yes, said that denying them is a violation or against the religion freedom.the advantages of marriage is  joint ownership, medical and etc......should be available to all couple, other people said that denying these marriage is a form of discrimination and it doesn't hurt society or anyone in particular and also said that the only thing that should matter in marriage is love and the same financial benefits that apply to man-woman marriages apply to same- sex marriages.

Overview

Marriage has been defined as a religious and  legal commitment between a man and woman, as well as the first or final expression of love. Homosexual relationships are increasingly victory acceptance in this country; however, these couples have not been allow to marry. Some states have considered a new form or genre  of commitment  that is called a "civil union", which fundamentally is marriage without using the word ''marriage". Many politicians have said that they are against gay marriage but they think it should be left up to the states to decide.

    current laws

There are three types of laws of marriage for lesbians and gays:defense of marriage act (D.O.M.A), gay marriage, and civil unions. Most states have D.O.M.A which does not allow gays and lesbians to get married. There are many benefits of marriage like having children, insurance,in inheritance and people can treat you equally.

"D.O.M.A prevents the federal government from recognizing gay marriage in states where it is legal, a provision of the law the Department of Justice says is unconstitutional."(http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/doma/2011/03/)It's not fair because they don't chose to be gay they should treat them equally.

Fourteen states allow gays and lesbians to get married. Because they love each other and they want to be happy they are human beings like us so they have all the right to be happy and be treated equally. "http://video.about.com/gaylife/Best-Same-Sex-Wedding-Planning-Memories.htm"
